Letter to the editor: Federalists gag as Ontario’s Ford steps up

“Let’s see what happens in the next six months, okay?” I believe all Ontarians will know and understand why “The Ring of Fire” will become an economically political hot potato for all Ontarians and Canada too ”

I was once a member of the Conservative Party of Canada, believing that a 50+ year old guy like me should be rounded enough, politically rooted enough to walk around and talk about Canadian conservatism.

What is your request? Well, we all know conservatism is social and political conservative. What used to be is the idea, then work on it a bit. Our senior population also likes to like conservative politicians. They still kiss babies, make house calls, and advocate for what they believe to be the backbone of Canada’s economy, businesses. What’s not to like?

The Conservative Party of Canada is also a sore loser and can also be a cannibal. Conservatives across the country are in panic about losing an election they own.

What do you need to win an election? An election is declared during a pandemic for no real reason, except that the Liberal administration wanted a majority in parliament. What are the Conservatives doing? There were many elements to the political downfall of this party, but it is what is happening now that is the telling factor of what it really stands for.

Grassroots conservatives, behind the scenes politics, business leaders to those standing by his side, stand by their side for their leader Erin O’Toole, an election loser, a person with a sinuous ideology and leadership policies. Erin made the mistake of ignoring party unity and developing a rock-solid Conservative umbrella. The Conservative Party of Canada is a so-called united force of grassroots western supporters and monetary organizations in eastern Canada. Their opponents have easily united with their leader because the Liberals whip their limbs together, and they have an unfortunate opponent on top of that.

I hope Doug Ford has studied what is going on in the federal sphere.

The many challenges he faces ahead of the 2022 Ontario election are staggering. The Ontario Conservatives fear the reappearance of their Liberal opponents. They also see the NDP led by Andrea Horwath gaining ground within the socially active mass unions that actually manipulate and run this province.

Doug Ford has not been able to do the things he was elected to do, mainly because of the pandemic and its grip on the province’s economy and government deficits. A sustained deficit is a Conservative’s calling card. Run government like a business. Something the Doug Ford administration has not been able to do so far.

Let’s see what will happen in the next six months, okay? I believe all Ontarians will know and understand why “The Ring of Fire” will become an economically political hot potato for all Ontarians and Canada too.
