The Travelodge by Wyndham hotel on Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls has a new owner and will undergo a complete renovation with upgrades including a new Starbucks Express location.

Toronto-based K2 Group announced Wednesday that it has acquired the hotel a stone’s throw from the Canada One outlet stores.

He said the hotel is “nestled among a host of vibrant and engaging shopping, entertainment and dining experiences.” Travelodge Lundy’s Lane is ideal for both business and leisure travelers, allowing productivity on the road without overcomplicating the guest experience.

K2 said the hotel already has a number of amenities and services that give it a significant competitive advantage over other Lundy’s Lane hotels. But he said he was still planning major investments in the hotel.

“The property will be completely renovated with improvements to the indoor and outdoor pools, restaurant, fitness center, meeting spaces, banquet facilities and 118 guest rooms,” the company said in a press release.

A Starbucks Express is also expected to open on-site by the end of the year, and negotiations for a new franchise food and drink offering are already underway to occupy the existing restaurant and will be announced soon, K2 said.

“We are pleased to welcome K2 Group as the new owners of a Travelodge by Wyndham property in Canada,” said Trevor Hagel, Executive Vice President of Operations, Travelodge Canada.

“As the current ownership and operating group of the Ramada Fallsview, one of the only hotels in the area to have remained open throughout the pandemic, they will certainly provide solid leadership and state-of-the-art improvements to the property. . “

Kailash Kasal, president of K2 Group, said his company was expanding its existing hotel portfolio while increasing its exposure to a market with “already strong growth trajectories”.

“Niagara Falls is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Canada, and we look forward to working with Superior Lodging and Wyndham to enhance the already exceptional Travelodge experience and provide our guests with the highest level of hospitality.”

Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said the city is delighted to see K2 Group continue to invest in Niagara Falls.

“We look forward to working closely with the K2 team as they continue their work to upgrade and develop more properties in our community. “

K2 said Niagara receives more than 13 million visitors per year in non-pandemic time, with tourism spending totaling $ 2.4 billion and $ 1.7 billion from overnight visitors.

The company said that with evidence of regularly in effect vaccination protocols and the now fully open Canada-U.S. Land border, the numbers are already recovering from the impacts of COVID, making the company’s investment in the local hotel sector a worthy and promising acquisition.

Travelodge is one of the largest hotel chains in Canada with over 100 independent hotels and nearly 9,000 rooms. He is a member of the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program, allowing customers to accumulate points for free nights, gift cards or Aeroplan Miles.
