Clubgoers in Victoria will soon have another option for a night out on the town, as the Strathcona Hotel announces the opening of its new venue later this month.
Wicket Hall opens its doors to the public for a special celebration on September 23 and 24 and replaces the closed Distrikt nightclub, according to staff.
“In the midst of a global pandemic, with so few people able to go out and enjoy themselves, the Strathcona Hotel decided now was the perfect time to renovate its largest meeting space,” staff said in a statement. Press release.
The basement, which seats approximately 600 people, has been redeveloped several times over the years, operating as 9 ONE 9, Element, Legends, the New Forge and the Old Forge before its final stint as of District.
The release says Wicket Hall will be a “significantly enhanced venue” to showcase Canadian and international artists and will feature a gold and sports simulator for guests.
“This venue is the perfect location for both private and public events,” the staff added.
As well as Wicket Hall, the Strathcona Hotel on Douglas Street offers guest rooms, a traditional pub on the ground floor, a roof terrace and a volleyball court.
